Holiday Recipe: Ryan Atkins’ Apple Cider

There’s something about Apple Cider during the holidays that gets me into the spirit of the season. This version is way more delicious and better for you than store-bought ciders. It’s perfect for a cold winter day when you want something warm and  a little more exiting than coffee or tea. Enjoy!

  • 8 apples, cut into 8 segments (remove seeds)
  • 2 Tbs cinnamon
  • 1 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tbs coriander seeds
  • 1 tsp turmeric
  • 1 tsp maca
  • 2 Tbs maple syrup
  • Water to cover

  1. Place all ingredients in a pot and pour in enough water to cover the apples.
  2. Bring water to a boil and then reduce to a simmer for 90 min
  3. Allow to cool slightly
  4. Using a fork, mush the apples and then pour the full mixture through a strainer to remove the pulp and apple skins.
  5. Serve hot!
